RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1849108

People

(Reporter: owen, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0

Steps to reproduce:

Join a meeting on meet.google.com, using a laptop with both built-in and external microphone (bluetooth headset or USB mic both work to reproduce the issue). External mic should be selected as the audio input.

Actual results:

Others on the call hear your voice echoing/repeating. This stops if you change the audio input to use the internal laptop mic. I have the impression that Firefox is taking audio from both the internal and external mic at the same time, despite the selection in Meet.

Expected results:

No echo/doubling of audio input.

I have been able to reproduce this across several versions of Firefox and macOS over a period of months. The issue does not happen in Chrome. If there is anything I can do to help debug or investigate further, please let me know.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video: Playback
Product: Firefox → Core

This should be fixed in Firefox version 123 by changes for bug 1849108.
Please reopen if this continues to reproduce in 123.

You can try Firefox Nightly to test.
