Steps to reproduce:

In my galaxy j7 Android 10 and in my sm-J610fn I try to read a web news page in simplified view.
Either on https://www.lemonde.fr/ or https://www.theguardian.com/us for instance.
Click on the simplified view icon in the URL line.

Actual results:

You get the result you see in the attached file. This worked before some update. I did not have a Bugzilla account, but now I report this non reported issue, not correction is coming.
On J7, I uninstalled Firefox and installed the latest version, no change.
Same on my Galaxy sm-J610fn, Android 10, Firefox 121.1.0 -

Hello,

I could not reproduce the issue on the latest Nightly 124.0a1, Beta 123.0b3 or Release 122.0. Tested using an Oppo Reno6 5G running Android 13.

I did not have any extensions installed when accessing www.theguardian.com and tapping the button in the URL bar properly displayed the page in simplified view.

I suspect a bad interaction with an installed extension maybe. Would you be so kind to let me know what extensions you have installed?

This might be the same bug as bug 1863662.

The keypoint to reproduce is triggering readerview on the tab opened by "open link in new tab" conext menu.

You're right!
It only bugs when the page or tab is opened from a link with target="_blank" - whereas readers view works fine when the page is opened directly from the URL.

I reproduced the issue exactly as mentioned by jackyzy823 in Comment 5 and it does appear to be the same as Bug 1863662.

I’ll be marking this report as a duplicate of Bug 1863662.
