The following Firefox probes will expire in the next major Firefox nightly release: version 126 [1].
BROWSER_SET_DEFAULT_USER_CHOICE_RESULT
What to do about this:
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are no longer needed, please remove them from their definitions files (Histograms.json, Scalars.yaml, Events.yaml).
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are still required, please submit a Data Collection Review [2] and patch to extend their expiry. There is a shorter form for data collection renewal [3].
If you have any problems, please ask for help on the #data-help Slack channel or the #telemetry Matrix room at https://chat.mozilla.org/#/room/#telemetry:mozilla.org. We'll give you a hand.

:nalexander I'm guessing we should update this probe to be non-expiring?

Bug 1881397 - Bump BROWSER_SET_DEFAULT_USER_CHOICE_RESULT telemetry probe to never expire. r=nalexander
Request for Data Collection Renewal
- Provide a link to the initial Data Collection Review Request for this collection.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1703578#c12
- When will this collection now expire?
never
- Why was the initial period of collection insufficient?
This probe has become increasingly important to understand when Windows environment changes are breaking one-click set to default. This is a dynamic situation that is unlikely to go away in the future.

PRELIMINARY NOTES:
Please attach data review requests to the bug as plain text attachments as they fit better into Data Stewardship workflows that way.
DATA REVIEW RESPONSE:
data-review: -
because to move a collection from renewing to permanent requires using the full form, not the renewal shortform.

PRELIMINARY NOTES:
Question 3 ("What alternative methods did you consider to answer these questions? Why were they not sufficient?") is asking about alternatives to collecting data at all, like consulting with partners or relying on bug reports. No harm in looking at the renewal/permanent angle here, this note is only to clarify for future data review requests.
DATA COLLECTION REVIEW RESPONSE:
Is there or will there be documentation that describes the schema for the ultimate data set available publicly, complete and accurate?
Yes.
Is there a control mechanism that allows the user to turn the data collection on and off?
Yes. This collection can be controlled through Firefox's Preferences.
If the request is for permanent data collection, is there someone who will monitor the data over time?
Yes, Nicholas Rishel is responsible.
Using the category system of data types on the Mozilla wiki, what collection type of data do the requested measurements fall under?
Category 2, Interaction.
Is the data collection request for default-on or default-off?
Default on for all channels.
Does the instrumentation include the addition of any new identifiers?
No.
Is the data collection covered by the existing Firefox privacy notice?
Yes.
Does the data collection use a third-party collection tool?
No.
