188188 - Tab key to autocomplete until next special character (location bar)

If you type "appl" in the Location field, the Autocomplete menu displays all the
visited apple URLs. Now the Tab key is almost similar to the Down-Arrow key.

By using the Tab key, the text in the location field should be extended up to
the next special character.
The new added part is considered typed, no more inside the highlight color.
If you then type a new character, only the non-highlighted part remains followed
by the new character.

apple.com/
apple.com/applescript
apple.com/applescript/script_editor
etc...

If the user types "appl" and presses tab, what should happen?

How about if the Autocomplete pop-up shows:
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=camino
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=mozilla
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=firefox
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=thunderbird

...and the user types "google" and presses tab?

Confirming as an RFE; no reason for it to stay on the unconfirmed list

I would rather see a command-shell style, which completes up to the first
character that has a choice. That would make it much easier to get to a specific
entry in the list with little typing.

This bug has been buried in the graveyard and has not been updated in over 5 years. It is probably safe to assume that it will never be fixed, so resolving as WONTFIX.
