User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:124.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/124.0

Steps to reproduce:

After Firefox updated itself, the mynoise.net website said to change my browser's settings to allow autoplay. However, the button to enable autoplay failed to show up. I then opened YouTube to switch it to block audio in preparation to switch my browser-wide autoplay settings to allow audio then reloaded YouTube. The autoplay settings button promptly disappeared and failed to reappear and YouTube didn't show up as an override on the browser-wide autoplay menu. This bug also shows up in Developer's edition and Nightly.

Actual results:

YouTube suddenly disappeared from the override list and the autoplay settings button disappeared from the address bar. After multiple reloads and a browser reboot, the autoplay button remained missing. mynoise.net wanted to enable autoplay but the button never showed up on the address bar.

Expected results:

YouTube should have disappeared from the override list, but the autoplay settings button should have stayed on the address bar. In addition, the website mynoise.net should have had an autoplay settings button on the address bar.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Evan could you please describe exactly what you've done in order to reproduce the issue regarding mynoise.net and file a separate bug for youtube?

Please try the suggestions below as well.

Suggestions:
• Clear cache/data/cookies, disable Ad-blocker (if available), or create a new profile (without syncing/importing data) and check again
• If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config), please revert to the default settings

How to create a new profile:

  1. Open a new tab
  2. Type in the address bar "about:profiles"
  3. Press "Enter"
  4. Click on "Create a New Profile"
  5. Click "Next"
  6. Name your profile
  7. Click "Finish"
  8. Head to your newly created profile
  9. Click "Launch profile in new browser"

Note: You can return to your old profile at any given time by accessing "about:profiles" in the address bar

This seems like it's a report about a missing/broken autoplay permission dialog in Firefox? I'm gonna move this into the Firefox triage component for now.
