Details
Affected versions
- Fx124.0b4
Affected platforms
- Windows 10
- macOS
- Ubuntu
Preconditions
Have VPN connected to US/CA
Google as default search engine.
browser.search.region set to US/CA
browser.urlbar.trending.featureGate set to true
browser.urlbar.trending.requireSearchMode set to false
Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox.
- Perform 5-6 searches using the address bar.
- Open a new tab and dismiss a recent search entry from the result menu button.
Expected result
- An existing 'recent search' takes it's place.
- If no 'recent search' is available a trending result entry could be inserted in the address bar drop-down.
Actual result
- Result is removed.
Regression range
- Not a regression.
Additional notes
- Please note that results are replaced ONLY if the address bar drop-down is opened again. Maybe a refresh trigger could be assigned to the dismiss functionality?

Replacing the items deleted could lead to confusion if they are replaced immediately, them dissapearing gives the user feedback that they were deleted.
Checked in with product and didnt hear any objections about closing this as WONTFIX so doing so.
