User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:123.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/123.0
Steps to reproduce:
Go to any website and select text.
This has been going on for months. I have tried running updates on all my drivers to make sure they are up-to-date and I have completely deleted and reinstalled Firefox using the following method below but it still keep flickering and displaying black boxes, even before any extensions are installed.
I'm using Windows 11 Home with an LG 16Z90P laptop (product ID: 00325-97218-38119-AAOEM).
I have several accounts set up, and the flickering/black box issue happens in Firefox in each separate account.
FULLY UNINSTALL FIREFOX:
1. Uninstall Firefox from the Control Panel.
2. Type %Programdata% in search bar and click enter. Then delete the folder named Mozilla.
3. Type %Appdata% in search bar and click enter. Then delete the folder named "Mozilla". Then go one level up in the folders by clicking Alt+Up arrow. You'll see three folders named "Local", "LocalLow" and "Roaming". As you've already deleted the "Mozilla" folder from "Roaming", do the same for above two folders "Local" and "LocalLow".
4. Open the registry editor by typing regedit in search bar:
5. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE and delete the entry named "Mozilla".
6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE and delete the entries "Mozilla" and "mozilla.org".
7.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > WOW6432Node and delete the entries "Mozilla" and "MozillaPlugins".
8. Close the registry editor.
Actual results:
Flickering black boxes (sometimes white) start appearing whenever text is selected.
I have uploaded a video capture of what happens.
Expected results:
Should be able to select text without any flickering or black boxes.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for reporting your issue.
I did a quick check, and LG 16Z90P has an Intel Iris GPU. We have had 2 similar bugs very recently where users had Intel Iris GPU and were experienceing similar issue. Their issue was resolved by manually updating the drivers to the latest version (prior to filing the bug, their driver version was from "3-22-2021". (See bug 1878754 and bug 1881230 for reference).
Can you do the following:
- Manually update your graphics driver to the latest version from Intels website?
- Type about:support in your browsers address bar and paste its contents on this bug.
Thanks!

Hello Mayank,
Thank you very much for looking into this so quickly. I downloaded the drivers from Intel and did the update - and that seems to have done the trick! I had previously tried to update the GPU drive through the Device Manager and it kept telling me I already had the latest version installed. So I guess that was a mistake. :)
Why just Firefox though? Nothing else on my laptop was affected. I guess it was a combination of my drivers being out-of-date and a recent(ish) Firefox browser version update?
Anyway, thank you very much for your help.
Much appreciated.
Paul
