Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:123.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/123.0

Steps to reproduce:

Usage patterns:

I typically have two to three different categories of container tabs open, and around 15-40 tabs

System Environment:

  • 32GiB of Memory
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
  • 4 plugins (Bitwarden, Lastpass, Sponsorblock, AdblockPlus)
  • running latest Ubuntu pre-release: Noble using X (not Wayland)

No specific action appears correlated to this issue. I'm happy to provide debugging logs or other useful information.

Actual results:

After around 1 hour of use Firefox becomes sluggish before hanging and becoming unusable. No excessive CPU or memory usage by Firefox is reported by the system when this happens, no resources appear saturated.

If I restart firefox, the issue is temporarily resolved.

Expected results:

Not grind to a halt.

Summary: firefox becomes sluggish and then freezes after ~1 of use → firefox becomes sluggish and then freezes after ~1hr of use
