Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:123.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/123.0
Steps to reproduce:
I have been using Firefox for many years on many different PC's. I noticed that there is a memory problem in Firefox.. Open a bunch of tabs and look at the memory usage in Windows Task Manager. Close all of the tabs and exit Firefox. Re-open Firefox and you will find that the program's memory usage (Task Manager) is almost the same as it was with many tabs open even though only 1 is now open.
Actual results:
Memory usage remained very high even with only 1 tab open. It does not do this after a reboot so something is happening on a restart that causes Firefox to re-use the large amounts of memory it had before.
Expected results:
Memory usage should be very small like it is after a reboot and first opening.

A profile created and shared using profiler.firefox.com would be good and also a memory report from about:memory.
Also, do you have any addons installed? Provide perhaps information from about:support
