Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 When Mozilla->Preferences... is invoked, the browser hangs. The spinning spiral is displayed and no other interaction with the browser appears to be processed (e.g. menus). On start up, my Mozilla preferences are currently set to start the browser. One browser window launches as a result. The entire OS does not hang. Other Mac OS 10.2 applications can be launched. A force quit is necessary. Mozilla will hang whether or not I close the browser window. This began to occur after the initial installation of Mozilla 1.3a. I was able to use the Preference dialogue once. An aside: I seem to recall *de-selecting* in the Appearance Preferences having the Mozilla open a browser, but this is what occurs on start up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Restart Mac OS X 10.2 2. Select Mozilla in the Dock 3. Attempt to invoke Mozilla->Preferences... Actual Results: The Preferences dialog never opens. The spiral continues to spin. No other Mozilla menu items may be selected. Expected Results: Open the preferences dialogue.
Close Mozilla, rename XUL.mfl to XUL.bak (in your profile directory) and restart Mozilla, do you still hang ?
The suggested fix solves the hanging problem. I notice, however, that Mozilla Preferences starts Navigator even though it is not selected in the Appearance preferences for Mozilla.
can you send your old XUL Fastload file (the one you renamed), preferably zipped to jrgm@netscape.com ? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 169777 ***
