New PDF handwriting support is laggy/innacurate and not smooth with graphics tablet

Steps to reproduce:
I tried to use handwriting with the new PDF editor on a graphics tablet
Actual results:
The input is laggy and/or inaccurate. The result is much worse and much less legible than the same input produces with other handwriting apps. When I make a dot such as for an "i" it sometimes doesn't catch the dot, or sometimes makes a dash.
When I make an "s" it often does not draw the top of the "s" shape.
Expected results:
The input should be interpolated so that handwriting is smoothed out properly. Handwriting with a graphics tablet should be similar in quality to apps like Linwood Butterfly or Xournal
