Essentially, it should probably work by comparing summary and initial descriptions with those of other bugs and create a list of ones with high similarity. If you ever look for related pages using a search engine, that is the sort of feature that would be useful in Bugzilla. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce:
This could even be incorporated into the Bugzilla helper and ask the user if he or she is sure that the bug that is being reported is not a duplicate of one in the list.
If we ever get the logic for this hooked up in bug 22353, then it would be a travesty for it not to automatically perform a search before filing a new bug. Realistically, I don't see this being seperate from that implementation, so I recommend marking this bug as a dupe.
I don't know how helpful this would be unless there were some standard to naming bugs. What I think would be better is to take a Loebner prize winning AI bot and teach it to learn from each bug so that it can triage for us by creating a list of such things as likely duplicates and bugs that have incorrect keywords.

Brant, could this be duped to bug 22353, or is it better described as a blocker? I can see how this differs from bug 12286 -- the latter requests a *field* for related bugs, this one suggests calculating it.
