Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Clicking Edit|Preferences freezes the browser. There are 2 similar bugs (169777, 179694) , but my experience is different in 2 ways: Not running LiteStep. FastLoad is active but I am clicking on the desktop icon to start the program. The only other behavior I have been having is a PASS/authentication error on my email server (auto download of new POP mail). I believe this may be related. Last time I fixed the bug by reinstalling Mozilla. Unfortunately, I can't get to the Preferences to disable FastLoad! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Moz Mail 2. Click OK if PASS command does not work (wrong user or passwd entered in account settings) 3. Try to edit Prefs to remove password storage Actual Results: Mozilla freezes with the Edit menu down. Expected Results: Allow user to edit prefs. Running Windows 98SE, DSL modem thru Belkin router, Also running: MSIE6 SP1, McAfee Antivirus 7, ZoneAlarm 3.1.395, NoAds 2002.11.05, Palm HotSync Manager 4.0
Can you try this: -Exit Mozilla and Fastload -Rename the file XUL.mfl in your profile directory -Restart Any change?
This sequence worked for me (thanks!) -Rename the file XUL.mfl in your profile directory -Restart
OK - thanks for quick feedback. Resolving as dup of bug 169777 - all sort of XUL.corruption bugs land there by and by. If you have the bandwidth: zip up the faulty (renamed) XUL.mfl and mail it to jrgm@netscape.com with a reference to this bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 169777 ***
