User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20030115 Phoenix/0.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20030115 Phoenix/0.5
When attempting to view http://mail.copi.org I receive an error stating "Error
establishing an encrypted connection to www.copi.org. Error Code: -8173." The
page then stops loading.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type http://mail.copi.org into Phoenix's Navigation toolbar.
2. Press Enter
Actual Results:
A pop-up error is displayed stating "Error establishing an encrypted connection
to www.copi.org. Error Code: -8173."
Expected Results:
No error should be displayed and the dialog box for accepting the security
certificate should be shown, unless you have previously accepted this sites
security certificate then the login page for the copi.org mail page should be
displayed.
The security certificate for http://mail.copi.org is self-signed and is not
signed by any of the well known security certificate companies, in case that
makes a difference. Also, I have no problem accessing http://mail.copi.org with
IE 6.0 or Netscape 7.01.

I use WinXP and the same build of Phoenix at home and I do not have this
problem. I only see this problem when using this build of Phoenix with Windows
2000.
I get exactly the same error when connecting to my own web site,
https://www.nmrc.ie/.
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030121
(built from cvs, Build ID: 2003012111)
The certificate on the web server is self-signed; it runs the latest apache
1.x/mod_ssl/openssl combo.
I appear to have no problems accessing other https sites.

For both sites I get the Certificate Verification Dialog, which, upon accepting,
yields the error dialog mentionned in the initial report. This was using the
20030116 Linux build.
This is likely to be a recent Mozilla PSM bug, so I won't confirm it until I've
had a chance to check it against a recent Mozilla build (Phoenix uses Mozilla's
PSM).
There's a chance that you're not seeing this with your home build because you
might be using an older profile that already contains the certificate data. Try
creating a second profile and seeing what happens.

As recommended, I created a new profile on my home (WinXP) machine and was still
able to access http://mail.copi.org/ with no errors. As an added measure, I
closed down Phoenix, deleted my C:/Documents and Settings/ganesh/Application
Data/Phoenix/ directory, restarted Phoenix, and was still able to access
http://mail.copi.org/ with no problems.
I'm building from cvs on a regular basis. Yesterday's build (2003012720) still
exhibits the problem. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help
track this down.
