User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Downloading of files seems to be completely broken. The "Save Where" pop-up executes, but the file transfer does not begin. Also, the "Download Manager" Selection under the "Tools" Menu does not bring up the download manager window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to download any file through "Save As" context link 2. 3. Actual Results: Clicked "Save As". Selected save location. Nothing happened. Expected Results: Mozilla should have opened a file at the given location and begun to download (via ftp or http) the selected file from the website.

Is this a problem with a clean profile? Are there any errors in the JS console caused by trying to open the Download Manager?
Mail from reporter: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://communicator/content/tasksOverlay.js :: toDownloadManager :: line 51" data: no]
Jeff, _is_ this a problem with a clean profile? Please just comment in the bug (at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189451) instead of mailing me...
I'm not sure if this is a clean profile problem or not. I just installed 1.3a. I changed my JS popup preferences. I've added 1 bookmark. My guess is that it could definitely be related, but I don't understand enough about Mozilla to be sure yet. Thanks for your help, btw.
Jeff, what I meant was: "Please create a clean profile using 'mozilla -ProfileManager' and try this. Does it fail there too?"
Yes, creating a new, clean, profile using the Mozilla profile manager does not fix the problem. The Download Manager window still doesn't open....
dbradley, what does that error code mean?
