(Reporter: mozilla, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:125.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/125.0

Steps to reproduce:

I press Ctrl+Cmd+Space to open the emoji picker on macOS.

I use the latest version of Firefox (125.0.3 as of writing), and macOS (14.4.1 as of writing).

Actual results:

The emoji picker appears and is immediately closed.

Expected results:

The emoji picker should appear and remain open until I close it.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Cocoa' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Cocoa
Product: Firefox → Core

This may seem like a small issue, but makes adding an emoji incredibly frustrating, as I essentially have to open the Notes app, enter the emoji there, then go back to Firefox, paste it. Something that should only takes a second becomes a task involving multiple applications, windows, and key combinations.

I'm so glad this was finally fixed. I found this issue so annoying that I started using other browsers, but hopefully now I can switch back to using Firefox again once this is released. Thanks @spohl!
