People

(Reporter: solo2001, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:125.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/125.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • create passkey for github.com on iPhone
  • on Firefox (desktop) log in to github.com and select login with passkey

Actual results:

  • no option for cross-device login with QR code (with proximity detection thru caBLE) presented

Expected results:

  • option to use QR code (with proximity detection thru caBLE) available (Chromium-based browsers do offer this)

I just tested this with Firefox 126 on Windows 11 - there it is supported already. Not on Linux, though.

OS: Unspecified → Linux
Summary: Firefox lacks support for FIDO2 CDA cross-device authentication → Firefox lacks support for FIDO2 CDA cross-device authentication (Linux)

I was wondering why Bitwarden would not support Vault Decryption.
Turns out the passkey is not fully supported by Firefox. Had to use a chromium based browser to get all features...

CTAP2 hybrid support (aka caBLE) is available on sufficiently recent versions of macOS and Windows, as the platforms provide it. Bug 1543674 is for a platform-independent implementation in Firefox.

@legion495: I think vault decryption depends on the PRF extension (Bug 1863819).
