User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

I'm using Firefox to work on a shared document on google does, and have the google docs feature "tools" -> "Line numbers" enabled. I want to print that document with the line numbers being visible.

When using Chrome or Edge, this is working. This was tested on Firefox for Windows (current default/stable version), Firefox 115.11.0esr on Linux, and Firefox 128.0a1 (2024-05-20) (nightly build) on Linux and got always the same results, that the line numbers are not printed when using Firefox.

Actual results:

When the google docs feature "Tools" -> "Line numbers" enabled, line numbers are shown in the document. However, when printing the document (e.g. PDF), the lines numbers are not shown in the printed document or when using the printer preview when using Firefox. Other browsers (e.g. Chrome or Edge) do print the line numbers, only on Firefox, this does not work,

This was tested on Firefox for Windows (current default/stable version), Firefox 115.11.0esr on Linux, and Firefox 128.0a1 (2024-05-20) (nightly build) on Linux and got always the same results, that the line numbers are not printed when using Firefox.

Expected results:

I expect the line numbers being printed, when using Firefox, and the line numbering feature is turned.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Printing: Output' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Printing: Output
Product: Firefox → Core

So Google Docs currently pops up a separate server-generated PDF rendering for printing on Firefox.
Spoofing the UA pops up the print preview dialog with line numbers properly showing.

:jwatt, I'd imagine this is something we need to reach out to Google for?
