Statusbar for message compose isn't yet implemented. The user should be able to select the priority of the message and maybe some other params or status text

I think we agreed to have the widgets for priority, etc. live in the Message menu, but to display any non-default choices as static text in the status bar.

[FEATURE] bugs past M16 are OUT for this release. Marking M20. If you disagree with this action, please help me explain it to the PDT.
Target Milestone: M17 → M20
nbaca - can you see if a user can set the priority of a message when composing regardless if it's from the status bar or not? Thanks.

When creating a message the priority of the message can be set using the Message|Priority menu. Priorities range from Highest to Lowest. The change in priority is not reflected in the new message/composer status bar but does display in the thread pane when the message is received.
Moving target milestone to "future" to be reviewed at a later time
Target Milestone: M20 → Future

This is not a good idea. The status bar now only houses the progress bar, the status text, the security info, and the online/ofline icon. This is not the place for individual message formatting options. A more logical place would be next to the subject text box. (That's if you need a popup anyway. It is already in the menu.) Either way there is no reason for things like that in the status bar. (Which has pretty much the same functionality in all components) If you are going to add this, then there needs to be a different status bar for message compose.
