User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20030115
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20030115
browser does not allow user to re-authenticate when 401 error has occurred.
Browser must be restarted before you are allowed to attempt another login.
Tested on Mozilla 1.2.1 on Linux and 1.2.1 on Windows 2000.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Fail an attempt to login to an htaccess protected location such as
http://library.willamette.edu/home/staff/lib_only/
2. Try again to login without restarting the browser.
3.
Actual Results:
browser auto-displayed a 401 error rather than continue to attempt to login as
netscape 4.78 and earlier would do.
Expected Results:
Browser allows user to attempt multiple re-logins after 401 error. Ideally,
administrator could set an arbitrary number of attempts to relogin before
failing and displaying 401 error screen.
