User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU OS 17_5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/17.4.1 Mobile/14E304 Safari/605.1.15
Steps to reproduce:
This happens on some URLs. When I click on them, only partial urls are selected. This happens when browsing, not like if I post the same URL in the video here, the issue can't be reproduced that way.
Please try browsing reddit via fenix and click on the URL on every landing page. That way the issue can be reproduced. This is not specific to reddit, happens on uncountable number of websites.
Actual results:
Only partial URL is chosen on pressing the URL bar. Please check the video.
Bugzilla will not accept video attachment and causes 504 gateway error. I am forced to upload to YouTube.
Expected results:
Full URL should be chosen when I click on the URL on the URL bar to make changes. I shouldn't have to click the X button next to the URL to clear the URL everytime.

My user agent is iphone because I have used a user agent switcher extension. My real device is Pixel 8 pro, lastest stable from Google Play Store.

As you can see from the video, even clicking the backspace button on the keyboard only clears the URL partially. Clicking X on the URL bar is the only way to clear the URL.

Thanks for filling this Manish! After clearing browser history and navigating to Reddit I can reproduce this due to the Reddit popup asking whether the user wants to open in the app or in Firefox. I've attached a screenshot as well just to corroborate your video and STR. For some reason it's triggering on certain queries...I'll investigate why.

Thank you for acknowledging the issue. Since fenix works in tandem with ub0, I believe the URL selection should work even popups are blocked like in my video. Additionally, kindly please don't consider this to be a reddit issue or some popup issue. This happens on regular websites too but posting each and everyone is not feasible. I have noticed it happens after a regular slash "/" like a regular URL.
I have attached another video to show it happens on regular websites too. All I did was type towardsdatascience.com and landed in the homepage. You can verify the page on the video is the landing page by going to towardsdatascience.com now. And the complete URL you see in the video is probably from my history or bookmarks, I am not sure which one. Nevertheless, it should be able to delete the entire URL with the backspace key, which it didn't.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have been more clear. Reddit appears to add /?rdt=number when you haven't yet selected whether to open in the app or in Firefox which is how I was reproducing. This is just an example of a 100% reproducible state that we can use to fix it. Even better is your towardsdatascience.com example and I appreciate you sharing that one as well. These both are easily reproducible and it gives us a good lead on how to fix (which is almost certainly an issue in our toolbar with handling links). Just as you suggest it does not appear to have anything to do with queries in the URL but that was my first inclination. On my dev device I had trouble getting the bug when browsing reddit but on my personal device I was able to get it to trigger on a typical subreddit that was only a path with no queries and selecting after the domain name (which in this case was r/visionpro/ leaving https://www.reddit.com/ unselected).

So this issue will not to assigned to someone and worked on?
Is there any update on this? Still having this issue on Android 14 with Firefox 130.0.1 and it's been like this for multiple months now.

I have the same issue on Firefox Android 134.0. From what I can tell Firefox adds stuff to the URL in the address bar when you select it, and this results in the selection only being the part that was added. You can easily reproduce this on https://www.bol.com too. The status of the bug is still set to unconfirmed, and no progress has been reported for 2 months. Is there anything that can be done to assign this to someone?
