User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:127.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/127.0

Steps to reproduce:

I was typing, all the 3 times it happened I was typing in writing fields (even different ones).

Actual results:

Typing suddenly stops working, the cursor disappears and after some seconds the OS tells me if force-closing or wait but waiting just means a loop of the same request.

Expected results:

I clearly expect to not be interrupted this way, mostly because despite Firefox saves texts once it's closed in this situation it often fails to do so and so I lose part of what I was typing.

and check if you still get keyboard events even if Firefox looks broken?

I've run that for a few hours, but the error hasn't happened. Just lots of log entries like:

Same for me, I can't just open Firefox every day and “hope” that the bug will occur again. Also, like Sam Wilson I'm not having this bug from a bit yet, and I've often been using writing fields across different websites so maybe a recent update fixed it 🤷. Of course I'll report if it happens again but in the meanwhile if you know a log file or tool inside Firefox where I can see if a useful log/error report already exists about this issue tell me how to find it and I'll tell what I read.

I've been getting this a bit more recently. It's like it's going really slow and not catching all the keypresses or something, because after a minute or so after clicking a key, sometimes (but not always) some of the letters do actually appear in whatever text field has focus (which might be a different one to where the cursor was when I did the actual typing).

The logging shows the keypress and release events happen when they are physically pressed, eg.:

After updating this issue might have been fixed but now after some minutes using Firefox when I type letters are inputted with some seconds of delay. No process or software being executed in the computer explains this.

This command should work for system installed Firefox:

MOZ_LOG="KeyboardHandler:5,sync" firefox > log.txt 2>&1

but you need to close all Firefox instances first.

The first command you gave me actually worked but you didn't tell me that it would have created a log.txt in /home so I saw it later one day by chance 😁. By the way it only tells bash: ./firefox: File or directory does not exist 😑. The new command instead told

Instead of trying to get info through the terminal maybe it's better to copy and paste any from an existing log or from Firefox.

I see that you're using Firefox from flatpak.

Please try to install plain Mozilla binaries and run them:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_Firefox_problems#Testing_Mozilla_binaries

Note that it uses different profile that your flatpak one as it's different application with different profile location.

What is it about? Another Firefox version? I don't want to create a duplicate or mess with my data or Firefox Account for this problem. What would be the point of installing those binaries? If possible (and if I got how to use them), I'd prefer loading default or default-release profiles from Firefox shortcut in my taskbar, I never used that stuff but might be better than reinstalling a new Firefox version for tests. Also, Sam, did you experience this issue again after updating Firefox? I wonder if it still happens, in some sessions I write for much time and Firefox hasn't become unresponsive yet.
