User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0

Steps to reproduce:

Click on Add-ons button then "Firefox translations" to open a pop-up window allowing to translate arbitrary text (see attached image).

Actual results:

Since Firefox 128, the translate pop-up is no more accessible

Expected results:

It would be great if a new button in the toolbar, or a new menu, would open the translation pop-up as it was possible using the add-on.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Fenix::General' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Frederic, thanks for reporting this issue. I'll send this bug to the Firefox Translations team. So this change happened in Firefox 128?

By the way, you can type about:translations into Firefox's address bar to access a similar UI to translate arbitrary text.

I was unable to reproduce this issue in Firefox 128.0.3 on Windows10 x64 and Ubuntu 22.04.
Can you reproduce the issue in the latest Firefox version? Does the issue persist if you start Firefox in Safe Mode?If the issue persists, could you try reinstalling the add-on and attempting again?

Thanks for the tip, it works fine.

I just tried the Firefox Translations extension on Firefox 129.0 and I can access the translation pop-up.
But iiuc this extension is deprecated in favor of the integrated translation.
I think a possible enhancement would be to have a button in the toolbar (like for save to pocket or take screenshot) to be able to open a pop-up or a new window/tab as for about:translations.
