190969 - IMAP hangs when pointed to the wrong server

My IMAP server moved.  Hence my account now points to a machine not listening on
the IMAP port.  Rather than giving a nice error and telling me to change my
settings, it sits there hung up, unresponsive to keypresses and the like.  It
doesn't seem to want to time out, either. Browser windows are also unusable in
this state.

Additional I: I can't change my account settings without opening mailnews, and I
can't open mailnews because it tries to connect to my server and hangs.

Additional II: even when 'offline', it still hangs up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up imap account.
2. Make Mozilla open mail window on startup and connect to imap server
3. Kill imap server.
4. Start Mozilla.
5. Wait forever (haven't tried this).

Actual Results:  
Mailnews window hung, incompletely drawn.  Browser windows dead.

With Mozilla closed, opening a URL from another application gives a 'host not
found' type error, which is even stranger.

if you start up in offline mode, it shouldn't even try to make a connection. Are
you in offline mode, or just not on the network?

This bug is still new and more than a year old?

Is this bug still worked on, or do you need further infos?

TB 2.0.0.19 seems to be "better reactive" when a server is down.
