RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1645648

People

(Reporter: bearweston07, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0

Steps to reproduce:

This issue effects sites like duckduckgo who change some parameters in the url once the full page loads.
If the user is typing something into the url bar while sites do this, the refreshed url is appended to the users input creating a malformed query.
On slow internet speeds this is a huge issue because often users type out something important in the url bar only for it to be ruined a split second later by garbage appended in the ui element, causing the need to retype the entire query.

Actual results:

The behaviour that the user experiences is a frustrating issue where the url bar is unreliable and user input often needs to be entered in twice.

Expected results:

Whenever a user types information in the url bar the text should only refresh once the user is done typing for a set time or if they loose focus of the bar.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thank you, that is indeed an annoying behavior that has been already reported in Bug 1645648. I'll add further comments there.
