Based on the screenshot provided, we have moved the issue

Notes:

I didn't receive a response. Moving it back to needs-contact

User Story: (updated)

It looks like videoland uses https://bedrockstreaming.com/ as its platform

When logged in, content fails to play in Firefox but works in Edge.

User Story: (updated)

We get Cannot play media. No decoders for requested formats: application/dash+xml when trying to play in Firefox

On Beta this appears to work so this is something specific to nightly.

We have conflicting reports here that this works on beta, but doesn't work on nightly. The original report says it does work in nightly but not release. Can we get a re-triage here from QA confirming where this works and where it doesn't? Thanks.

I don't have an account for this and am not sure how to go about signing up. If someone has access, please go to about:logging, select media in the log modules, click start logging and reproduce the issue, and post the resulting profile here. Thanks.

The issue was moved based on the screenshot provided in GitHub (as per our flow when encountering such issues). QA does not have a testing account.

Bas can reproduce this on release now:

'ENGINE_ERROR / ENGINE_DRM_ERROR'

123EmeEncryptionSchemePolyfill: Waiting to detect encryptionScheme support. v2.videoland.com:2:17734
McEncryptionSchemePolyfill: Waiting to detect encryptionScheme support. v2.videoland.com:2:17734
McEncryptionSchemePolyfill: No native encryptionScheme support found. Patching encryptionScheme support. v2.videoland.com:2:17734

This is output from an MSE encryption polyfill that's part of the shaka video player package -
https://github.com/shaka-project/eme-encryption-scheme-polyfill
The messages indicate the polyfill succeeded.

I can't gain access to this site, so comment 7 still applies.

Could you capture a profile again by following this instruction? The one you provided in the comment 11 doesn't have logs. Thanks!

Oh shoo. Do I actually need to click the 'Start Logging' button? Did everything except that :-).

Bas, could you help me verify if this issue is still reproducible on Nightly or Beta? Thanks!

Flags: needinfo?(bas)

Bas already sent the profiles to me, I will update more information after finishing checking those profiles. Set a NI on myself.

This feels more like a website issue to me, on Bas's Release profile, we can see the website called update and then closed the media session later. In the same profile, in MediaFormatReader thread, we can see the message "Still waiting for data or key. data(%d)/key(%d) indicating the key didn't become usable yet. We should contact them to see if they expects wrong event or not sending the correct key message to the Widevine CDM.

On Bas's Nightly profile, the story is different. They created a media key with PlayReady, but didn't do anything afterward. We should ask someone to contact them to see whether they can check their own codes.

alwu, why do you think it works in Chrome?

Flags: needinfo?(alwu)

We have now 2 issues come up on the Dutch SUMO where Videoland doesn't seem to work on Windows with Firefox 137:
https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1504339 and
https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1504170. Last one says it works with 136 on another PC and also on Windows 7.
Any update?

Martin - can you check where we are on contact? It's been contact-planned for 9 months
Alastor - why do you think this works in Chrome? and the second report in comment 18 says it works in 136 on a different PC, and win7 - any ideas?

Flags: needinfo?(alwu) → needinfo?(mbalfanz)

re-pinging alwu. see comment 19

Flags: needinfo?(alwu)

I don't think outreach-planned is a valid keyword anymore. In any case, we have a failed attempt 9 months ago and haven't tried again since (see comment 1)

I tried this video on the latest Nightly on Windows 11, I can play it without problems when connecting with VPN.

Bas, is this issue still reproducible on your side? If so, could you capture another media profile for me? When the issue happens, does it only affect the main video, or it breaks the ads as well? Thanks.

Flags: needinfo?(alwu) → needinfo?(bas)

On nightly and release free videos appear to work for me now.
