Steps to reproduce
Launch 'Firefox'.
Click the search engine dropdown menu to the left of the address bar.
Select a different search engine (e.g., Wikipedia).
Click on an empty area of the screen.
Expected Results:
The selected search engine should remain active after selecting it from the dropdown menu.
Actual Results:
The search engine unexpectedly reverts to the original search engine after clicking on an empty area of the screen.

This is the expected behaviour. The original intent was that we always revert back to the default search engine if the user taps anywhere outside the search box. This way, the user won't accidentally search in a non-default search engine.
Closing as invalid because this behaviour is as expected.
However, that said, if you think that this should be something we look into as an enhancement, please reopen and set this issue to "enhancement". Thank you,
