Steps to reproduce

  1. Visit https://1.0.0.1/.
  2. Tap the 'Address' bar.
  3. Enter and visit https://www.ebtrust.com.
  4. Wait for a while.
  5. Pull to refresh.

Expected Behavior

In Step 3, if the website is valid, it should load promptly; if invalid, a feedback page should be displayed.
In Step 5, the browser should reload the newly entered website.

Actual Behavior

In Step 3, the loading process never finishes.
In Step 5, the address bar reverts to the previous website, and the browser displays the previously visited page instead of the newly entered one.

Notes

In Step 3, the website was misspelled from https://www.entrust.com to https://www.ebtrust.com, which may have contributed to the issue.

If visiting a misspelled website from the 'Homepage', the loading process lasts indefinitely, and pulling to refresh does nothing.

Thank you for the report!
I was not able to reproduce this on a Samsung Galaxy A14 (Android 13).

Please provide us the following details:

  • what the device you've encountered this issue on?
  • on what Firefox for Android version?
  • did you had any extensions enabled?

I can reproduce on:
Galaxy S21 5G (Android 12)
Firefox for Android : 129.0.2 (Build #2016039455)
No, I didn't

I'm also not able to reproduce this on Google Pixel 8. FWIW both https://www.ebtrust.com. and https://www.ebtrust.com seem to be valid links to a Chinese website of some sort.

Flags: needinfo?(gmalekpour)
Severity: S3 → S4
Priority: -- → P5

I am still unable to reproduce the issue on the latest versions of Firefox for Android 133.0, and Nightly 134.0a1.
Tested with an Oppo Find X3 Lite (Android 11).

Could you please retest, and let us know if you are still able to reproduce this issue on your end?
Thank you!

Closing since this ticket has gone stale and we cannot reproduce.
