The Vertical tabs should have a close tab button. So the user can easily close the tabs.
Like what Edge is doing, maybe?

It does have a close button, but only in the expanded state. You need to use the sidebar toolbar button to toggle to the expanded state (this is with the default "always show" setting which you can change in the customize sidebar settings).
