User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:132.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/132.0
Steps to reproduce:
Browser defaults to Desktop Mode, despite being toggled off. Any new tab that is opened will toggle Desktop Mode automatically.
Actual results:
The Desktop Mode toggle turns itself on every load up, every new opened tab. It has to be manually turned off every time to get mobile version.
Expected results:
Default should be mobile mode. It should not be necessary to manually toggle off on every new tab. This behavior does not happen in latest beta or stable release.

Additional testing shows this problem on three different tablets:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE (Android 14)
- Lenovo Tab P12 (Android 14)
- Samsung Tab A (2019) (Android 11)
It doesn't seem to affect my Moto G Stylus (2022) (Android 12).
This occurs on a clean install with no account or extensions. Perhaps only affects tablets or devices of a certain screen size?

Also occurring on Samsung Tab S8 (Android 14)

It seems like this is a deliberate choice by the developers? If so please make this optional, as it significantly changes the UI of many websites and I find it disconcerting. Also, as someone who browses using split screen, mobile UI suits me much better than desktop.

I'm afraid you might be correct. If it is deliberate I agree this should 100% be optional. It makes no sense to force desktop mode on an objectively mobile device. Having the manual toggle to do so on a case by case basis is optimal. As it currently is, I need to use Edge browser on certain websites to get the behavior I expect. I would be very disappointed if this was done on purpose.

All three tablets of mine don't toggle desktop mode automatically anymore. Are you seeing the same?

I'm seeing the same. Hopefully next time it is implemented it is behind an option.
