Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/128.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
Firefox Version: 130.0.1
OS: MacOS Darwin 24.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 24.0.0
Hardware: MacBook Air M1
After the upgrade to the newest MacOS version "Sequoia Version 15" Firefox was no longer able to load websites hosted on the internet.
Local websites located in LAN caused no issues.
No changes to Firefox were conducted.
Other browsers have no problem to load both websites from the internet and LAN
- Safari
- Brave
- Mullvad
- Tor Browser
I checked the privacy settings in allowed Firefox to access the local network
"Datenschutz & Sicherheit --> Lokales Netzwerk --> Firefox"
Actual results:
Firefox tries to load the websites for a very long time then it show the message "Website not found".
For me it looks like a problem with the DNS in Firefox. The web browser tries to load the site.
I tried several things to fix the problem
- Fixes described on the Mozilla website
No success
- Factory reset Mozilla Firefox
No success
-
Re-install Firefox
-
removed Firefox from the system
-
installed Firefox via Homebrew
--> No success -
removed Firefox from the system
-
installed Firefox via dmg from the official Mozilla website
--> No success
-
-
Deleted the full Firefox profile folder and installed Firefox via dmg from the official Mozilla website from scratch.
After the 4th step Firefox finally loaded websites and I reinstalled all extensions, but ..
... after a reboot of the machine Firefox is not able to load websites from the internet anymore.
I face the same problem again.
Firewall
Several approaches
- Firewall rules deleted and newly created
- Firewall disabled
Nothing helped to fix the problem.
Expected results:
Load websites on the internet and LAN as before the upgrade of the OS and as the other web browsers do.

Resetting Firefox or reinstalling won't help. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1919173#c1 for a possible solution.
