User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 13; Mobile; rv:132.0) Gecko/132.0 Firefox/132.0

Steps to reproduce:

When attempting to open a Microsoft Teams meeting link (e.g., https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/...) in the Android mobile version of Firefox, the browser does not redirect to the Microsoft Teams mobile app as expected. This occurs despite the "Open in apps" option being enabled in Firefox settings.

  1. Install Firefox and Microsoft Teams on an Android device.
  2. Ensure the "Open in apps" option is enabled in Firefox settings.
  3. Open Firefox and navigate to a Microsoft Teams meeting link (https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/...).

Actual results:

The link opens in Firefox browser instead of redirecting to the Microsoft Teams app.

Expected results:

Firefox should redirect the user to the Microsoft Teams mobile app.

It is annoying as P0.

I'll look into this when I get a chance. Keeping NI so I remember. For now please open menu and tap on the "Open in app" as a workaround. Thanks for reporting this issue.

Oh that's weird. Maybe that's why it didn't redirect. Android OS didn't tell us that the link can be open in Microsoft Team's app for some reason. I'll have to look into that but we ask Android OS if any app wants to open the current link and for some reason the link your on Microsoft team app did not register to open it.

Investigation result shows that Microsoft team site uses a subframe to trigger the redirect to their application. This is blocked in our implementation to prevent spam/abuse. However, this this a important use case, I'll have to add an allow list to support this particular use case.
