When using built-in Rakuten search provider in Firefox ja-JP, it shows 404 not found page. I think that Rakuten changes search URL (I don't know new URL, so we should contact to them for it).

This issue is both desktop and mobile.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll get the conversation going.

We know this is an ongoing issue, which we are trying to get resolved, that's why it is marked as P1. Setting status flags to fix optional as the fixes will be delivered via remote settings and we don't have to do code changes. Hence we don't need explicit release tracking.

We're just going to switch Rakuten to the non affiliate codes for now.

I can't get our affiliate situation straightened out.

(In reply to Mike Kaply [:mkaply] from comment #3)

I can't get our affiliate situation straightened out.

In 2017, Jim Cook (or his team) have transfered Rakuten Affiliate account from Mozilla Japan to Mozilla Corporation, but it appears that the registration information was not updated properly.

Subsequently, when we (WebDINO Japan, formerly Mozilla Japan) received an inquiry from Rakuten, the contact information of affiliate accout was araccounting@mozilla.com, and we were informed that Kristine Solon send response from araccounting at that time. (I simply informed them to contact MoCo directly, and we do not have any information regarding the procedure or current account details)

Please check with araccounting about your affiliate situation (if needed) and contact Rakuten to get new affiliate code.

That's interesting. We were told the affiliate account is office@mozilla-japan.org.

I'll check that one.

I just verified that neither accounting or araccounting are valid affiliate accounts (you can test here) -

https://login.account.rakuten.com/sso/authorize?client_id=affiliate_jp_web&redirect_uri=https://affiliate.rakuten.co.jp/auth/callback&response_type=code&scope=openid%20profile&r10_required_claims=r10_name&ui_locales=ja-JP&state=https%3A%2F%2Faffiliate.rakuten.co.jp#/sign_in

Unfortunately the password reset on office@mozilla-japan.org isn't working and in order to recover the account, we need the name associated with the account.

I just verified that neither accounting or araccounting are valid affiliate accounts (you can test here)

I assume that the MoCo representative had not switched the login account at that time. araccounting@mozilla.com is the address of the person in charge that was written on the paperwork for the transfer of the account holder from our company to MoCo. (That the email address for the login and the contractual contact information known to the Rakuten representative are different.)

That's interesting. We were told the affiliate account is office@mozilla-japan.org.

office@mozilla-japan.org (all @mozilla-japan.org domain mail) are closed and cannot use it to reset account. We've transfered the affiriate account in 2017 and we don't keep any information about it now (We can't continue to hold them according to the contract with MoCo). So please contact to Rakuten to recover your affiliate account.

We have access to office@mozilla-japan.org now (I had it brought back) and I did try to use it to reset the account, but no reset email came.

We reached out to Rakuten, but they need to know the first/last name associated with the account in order to recover it.

At this point, we should just switch to the default Rakuten so it at least works.

This is now on stage. Please could QA test?

Tested using all the latest builds (Fx142.0b1, Fx141.0RC, Fx143.0a1 and Fx140.1.0ESR) on Windows 11, macOS and Ubuntu 24.04 with RS set to Stage.
Rakuten now correctly works for all SAP (urlbar, websearch, searchbar, context menu searches).

This is ready for PROD from QA perspective.

This is live on production as of about 14:15 UTC.
