In bug 1886003 we added the about:newprofile page. This page contains a button to delete the profile. Bug 1918523 is working on actually deleting the files in the profile. Once bug 1918523 is done, we can actually delete the profile.

Closing this in favor of bug 1918523, which has a patch that covers both the background task and the profile service deletion code sketched here
