open page, try to use it and navigate

Actual results:

site content or where clicks go seem to be horizontally misaligned. if i go and click address bar on top, it fixes it. multiple devices with different major android versions do the same

Expected results:

not have to click address bar without reason to realigh the page elements

i mean vertically misaligned

bug has persisted for months and months

Sulev-Madis, can you please share a screenshot of the vertically misaligned web page? Does it happen on all websites or randomly?

Summary: address bar messes up site layout → site content or where clicks go seem to be horizontally misaligned. have to click address bar to realign the page elements

i could try adding screeshots or videos. it happens on many sites but not all. seems something with bar. how it hides on scroll. actually i notice it when just using page. workaround is always to go and focus address bar for a moment, then it's all ok. it happens eg on youtube mobile site and on osta.ee. unsure if site issue? i don't need to reload it. seems like some ui drawing issue. in yt you could click to like comment and find it dislikes it, like input has actually registered on menu item one line down. it could hide top of video too. bar focus for a moment brings it back. on auction site it's totally cursed bug too. i have no idea why this happens. or is it site issue. but multi page issue is wtf!

just happened in yt short video view but it sadly also redraws when i went to enable record. could have screenshotted it instead

what's it, i have no idea

and it happens on multiple sites...

i found one bad example on yt which looks like on those two shots i'll add. i don't know what it is. why should things change on redraw? unsure how to reproduce it. i just know it's not the one page issue

it's pretty difficult for me to debug it, i hope somebody else can do it. i suspect it's something inside ff. could be page but why is it happening on two? it could be bug in some js/css lib they use? but it seems like something with that bar, the autohide or scroll. i have no idea

could it be some weird viewport size issue too? certainly fun for either browser or site dev to fix. it's also annoying as hell when this happens. i press on some ui element but my input goes into some other ui element

actually, i do run ublock origin here, i wonder if it matters

so, in the end, i don't know why my two separate samsung phones which run two different older major android versions behave same way. there are ton of sites where this happens. i do run ublock origin but i honestly don't believe i'm only one. i run it with stock ruleset. ok one rule but it doesn't apply for all of sites. there is indeed an bug which disappears if i put ff into background for a moment, scroll up and down or click on address bar. seems like it's the address bar hide/etc issue. funnily i don't have idea of any test cases. nor do i have idea if i should contact ff devs, site devs, js lib devs or ff ext devs, or samsung, or google? i didn't write any code there and have no idea. i'm sure whoever is at fault will be happy to fix issue i found. since this issue disappears on app switch, i think i should record the screen with other phone. or have recorder ready somewhere. screenshots don't really convey what i experience but shots do show weird things nevertheless. i believe there's something i do here, hence it's not spotted before but something is wrong here. i don't even have idea why. this has not been the only ff issue either, but i wish it could be solved. other thing is, where's bookmark / settings / password export? but the cursed ui bug is a priority. it could even end up as wontfix if bug is not in ff but at least i know then. it's truly annoying as i indeed click wrong things if it happens. you click like in yt but dislike happens. dislike is one menu item down in mobile site menu. it's so fancy bug that what if it could be deliberately exploited to trick users? to my limited knowledge it seems like some ui drawing issue. i don't know if any extension or site has even control over this. i also have no issue in any other apps. recently i found that ff refused to copy selected text and just liked to scroll left on click on copy. 3 times in a row. refused to copy too. i wish i recorded that event too. unsure what got corrupted but i closed it, opened it again, it loaded same site, i was able to copy same text without issue. so it's ff? how to fix it, i have no idea since i haven't ever wrote any code for it or of it. hence no clue. i could remember to record something next time if it's more helpful. because why me? that's quite strange. it could be how i left it running or open more tabs etc. funny how it corrupts. because that's what i believe is happening. would be happy to test something that makes it happening 100% of time so we at least are on the same page

i hope one issue is visible there and i don't need to give original file? this is just one of things i see. why, i don't have any idea. if confusing, look what bottom of screen does and what happens if i click on top for a moment. not a only site either. what is it?

another and there's also something going on at the bottom which is also fixed by clicking address bar once. it's another completely different site and i also don't know why. it also happens on google search page where the elements get hidden like top search box. i don't really know what to think of this. i'm unsure, if ublock origin is suspected, and i could try without it, does that thing even have code that tracks focus or something. i don't believe i run any special setup here and therefore have no idea why only i could see those issues

:royang, could you have a look please?

We will not fix for the v134 release of toolbar. However, will you please provide a video? Only having screenshots makes it difficult to understand what the issue actually is.

Severity: -- → S3

i did. should i give original file too like i wanted at first?

it's kind of weird and hard to explain but i think it even happened here too once. sadly i clicked it away before capturing

how to replicate it 100% i have no idea

also why others don't have it, is mystery too. this is factory firmware of common mobile device. i shrug where the issue is

there are specific ui issue in both of those videos, it looks like site bug but something happens in many places, can't trace where the issue is, ff, js lib, site code?

also real annoyance is how it misclicks. if that could be reliably replicated, this is kind of ui redress bug which is security issue. i mean how did my tap go to about toolbar amount if pixels down/up. immediately fixed by tapping the toolbar for a brief moment

i have installed all the updates and it seems there are changes. or not. if you didn't do anything, then no

looking for any test page or better ideas how to make videos

btw, why do only i have it alone? it's crazy. so yeah, unsure how to report / test better

i can confirm a change in behaviour but it's still misbehaving

can anyone give me details why and how this happens?

esp. how the bug seems to shift around but doesn't resolve. i still haven't looked where the repo is, and i don't know if i even find the right commit

it also seems like android users are like idiots and don't deserve much changelog even if one wants to look. it's as if cve's are only thing that get patched. but it's not

actually it's mozilla generic problem as well. features flap around like hell, leaving users wondering what's this all about, reasons are not even given. it's very annoying to silently endure this, having used them on all platforms for decades
