Steps to reproduce:

I use news.individual.de as NNTP server, subscribe a number of newsgroups and fetch new posts. Then leave Thunderbird untouched for about 10-15 minutes and return to it to read one of the new posts fetched previously by pressing [N] in a group with new and unread posts.

Actual results:

Thunderbird jumps to the new post and tries to load it. After about 20 seconds it displays an error message "Connection reset by peer" and does not load the new post. When I then go to another post and return to the new post again, the connection is opened again by Thunderbird and the post will be loaded as expected.

Expected results:

If the connection is not usable any longer, Thunderbird should either automatically reconnect to the NNTP server if needed or close the connection after fetching posts and reopen it whenever needed.
