[Notes]:
- This issue is not reproducible if the “browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.discoverystream.sections.cards.enabled” pref is set to “false”.
- In case of non-sponsored cards this option is doubled as the “Save to Pocket” button is displayed while hovering the card.
[Affected versions]:
- Firefox Beta 134.0b1, BUILD ID: 20241125200000.
- Firefox Nightly 135.0a1, BUILD ID: 20241125205949.
[Affected Platforms]:
- Windows 10.
- Ubuntu 22.04.
- macOS 14.7.1.
[Prerequisites]:
- Have a new profile with the “browser.search.region” pref from the “about:config” page set to any region where Pocket is available.
- In the same profile, have the “browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.discoverystream.sections.cards.enabled” pref from the “about:config” page set to “true”.
- Use a VPN connection in the same region in order to get sponsored cards.
[Steps to reproduce]:
- Open the browser with the profile from the prerequisites.
- Open a new tab page.
- Hover a sponsored or non-sponsored card and click the contextual menu button.
- Observe the options available in the contextual menu.
[Expected result]:
- “Save to Pocket” option is not displayed for either card type.
[Actual result]:
- “Save to Pocket” option is available for both sponsored and non-sponsored cards.
[Additional Notes]:
- Attached screenshots of the issue.
- This is not a regression and it's been an issue ever since the new UI was implemented.
