Affected versions

  • Nightly 135.a1

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: macOS 15, Windows 11

Preconditions

  • Ensure that the pref "browser.profiles.enabled" is set to true in about:config.
  • Create at least one profile.
  • Enable Voice Over Screen reader.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Use VoiceOver to navigate to the Profiles panel from the Hamburger menu.
  2. Use VoiceOver to enter Edit mode.
  3. Navigate to the Avatars section and focus on a one of the avatars using VoiceOver.

Expected result

  • VoiceOver should announce the avatar currently in focus.

Actual result

  • On macOS, VoiceOver reads "image button group."
  • With these descriptions, it is very difficult for the user to differentiate between the avatars.

Regression range

  • This is not a regression; it's introduced with the Profiles Switching feature.

Additional notes

  • On Windows, VoiceOver reads a generic description like "clickable button."
  • The same behavior is encountered on both the about:editprofile and about:newprofiles pages.

Access s2 because these buttons are unlabelled and thus cannot be identified or distinguished from one another without sight.

Accessibility Severity: --- → s2
Blocks: 1919599

Note that these buttons also don't provide any semantic indication whether they are selected or not, which is also an access s2.
