User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:133.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/133.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Set Firefox to clear history when Firefox is closed.
- When you close Firefox, the Windows Task Manager background process will have a residual Firefox process, and each time you close it, a residual process will be added.
- When you start Firefox, it takes about five seconds to open. If you terminate all the remaining background processes, it will open immediately.
Actual results:
If there are Firefox processes left in the background, each startup will take a long time
Expected results:
There should be no residual processes in the background, which causes Firefox to start slowly

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Session Restore' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello! Thank you for submitting this issue I have tried to reproduce the issue on my end but unfortunately I wasn't able to with firefox 134.0a1(2024-12-16) on Windows 10
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
- Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
- Do you have any addons installed? If yes could you please list them?

- yes
- Cannot reproduce in 135.0a1. The remaining process will disappear after a few seconds after exiting.
- The problem exists when testing the release version on a clean configuration, without any extensions installed
