Steps to reproduce
- Go to Tab settings and make sure the Tab view is on "Grid".
- Open a few tabs and then open the tabs tray.
- Long tap on the second tab and drag it to the first position to reorder the two tabs.
- When the two tabs are overlapped, release the selected tab.
- Observe.
Expected behavior
The tab is placed where the user intended to position it, the two tabs are reordered.
Actual behavior
The first tab remains in its place while the moved tab is deleted. The "Tab closed" snack bar is displayed.
Device information
- Firefox version: Reproduced with all latest releases: Nightly 136.0a1 from 01/22, Beta 125.0b7 and 134.0.1
- Android device model / Android OS version: Samsung GalaxyZ Fold 4 (Android 14), Samsung Galaxy A53 5G (Android 14) Google Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14)
Additional information
This issue appears to be random, and has a low repro rate.
I could not reproduce it yet with Tab view set to "List".

Hey Delia,
From the video, I think that the gesture registered as a swipe to close instead of a tap and hold to move gesture - maybe your finger slightly moved when tapping and holding, which triggered the swipe to close instead. As a result, I think it's fine to close this as WORKSFORME
but please reopen it if I have misunderstood something
