Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to unabridged.merriam-webster.com
  2. Search words.
  3. Play the pronunciation.

Expected Behavior:
Audio is smooth.

Actual Behavior:
Audio is crackling.

Notes:

  • Initial report was on merriam-webster.com, the free version. The issue reproduced only on FF Release but not FF Nightly
  • The original reporter states the issue reproduces on the paid version unabridged.merriam-webster.comevery time with FF Nightly
  • Reproduces regardless of the status of ETP
  • Reproduces in firefox-nightly, and firefox-release
  • Does not reproduce in chrome

I signed up for a trial and can't repro. I'm going to close this out as a duplicate of bug 1893939 since I'm assuming that they have the same root cause. Would be happy to re-open and test if needed - will keep the trial open for a week.
