1944246 - Mozilla's built-in PDF viewer does not show pdf-comments

Steps to reproduce:

• Have a PDF that has annotations (i.e., highlighted parts of text with comments)
• Open this file in Mozilla's built-in PDF-viewer
• The highlighted parts of the text are visible, however, their comments are not.

Actual results:

No text is shown in the comment/annotation window, while it is visible in other PDF-programs. (See attached screenshot)

Other users reported the same issue.

Expected results:

The comment/annotation text should be visible.

Could you attach the PDF here? We do support showing comments, maybe there's a bug for this specific PDF.

Could you attach the PDF here? We do support showing comments, maybe there's a bug for this specific PDF.

The file is not my own but shared with multiple other people. I can't post it here

Could you download Firefox nightly and test if it works for you ?
If it doesn't work in nightly then we won't be able to debug the issue without the pdf. If the pdf cannot be shared we can either restrict this bug to the Mozilla employees and consequently the pdf can be attached to the bug (and we can remove it once we figure out a solution) or you can send it to me on my mozilla email (just hover my name above to see my email address or rignt click on it).

Hello! Thank you for submitting this issue I have tried to reproduce the issue on my end but unfortunately I wasn't able to with firefox 136.0a1(2025-01-31) on Ubuntu 22.04
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?

1. Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
2. Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
3. Do you have any addons installed? If yes could you please list them?

1. The issue still persists on a new profile
2. The issue is fixed using Nightly (please see my other comment about this where I attacked a screenshot showing an abnormally big comment text size)
3. I have the following add-on's installed; (Although this shouldn't matter, since the issue persisted on a new profile with no addon's)

• 'Adblocker for youtube'
• 'Copy as PNG'
• 'Decentraleyes'
• 'Geoguessr Radio'
• 'To Google Translate'
• 'uBlock Origin'
