When I make a certain menu selection, Mozilla stops responding, consumes 100% resources, and starts consuming memory until I kill the application.

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 This fist happened last week (week of 10 Feb 2003) when I tried to select "Mail & NewGroups" from the "Window" menu. Mozilla stopped responding. I then checked the task manager. Mozilla was consuming all the cpu it could and the memory kept climbing until I killed it via the task manager, or the task bar (right click, close). I tried this several times with the same result. I also rebooted the pc multiple times. I tried just reinstalling Mozilla, but that did not succeed. I then uninstalled and reinstalled. That also did not work. I had to uninstall, and then delete all files related to Mozilla from my computer. I thought it may have been some type of garbage mail I recieved or something related to e-mail. However, today, 21 Feb 2003, I tried to select "Preferences.." from the "Edit" menu and I am experiencing the same problem. I have tried this a few times with the same result. I cannot get to preferences. I have tried waiting multiple minutes for the window to pop up, but it does not. I don't know what I have done to make this problem occur again. Once the bug happens, though, it does not go away. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See description. I just have to: 1. Open Mozilla 2. Mouse to "Edit" and then select "Preferences" Actual Results: See description Expected Results: Preferences window should appear.
Please read the buglist that you get if you open the "bug reporting page". It's #2 on the list : "Corrupted XUL.mfl / XUL.mfasl / XUL FastLoad File freezes/hangs (not crashes) Mozilla/MailNews/etc (when opening Edit > Preferences, or at "random")" Doesn't that match your problem ? close mozilla and delete "xul.mfl" in your mozilla-user-profile. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 169777 ***
