Steps to reproduce:
Open Firefox press the menu icon and select one of the categories with and additional animation (bookmarks for ex).
For what i tested, this issue happened only in .rpm builds of firefox (.deb .exe and .tar.gz are free) like opensuse and fedora both up-to-date also i had this issue since a lot but on firefox-esr (tested on opensuse) this issue wont happen.
Actual results:
This last transistion animation is laggy and not fluent as it should be
Expected results:
An fluent animation like all animations in my firefox

UPDATE 08/02/2025 : The issue is still there in firefox 135, i tested more and only vanilla firefox (without my customization) are affected, for example firefox from flatpak or librewolf (rpm and flatpak) aren't.
I really dunno what to do since i cant imagine the origin of this problem and seems that no one are affected like me, dont make me wrong this isn't a something that u may not notice, it's really annoying.

Could you post a video of the lagging animation please? Would also be great to attach about:support so we can see if you have any preferences enabled that could be affecting this?
Since you have a specific build/configuration, it'd be helpful if you could try this out on latest Nightly if you'd be willing to do that - we've made a lot of changes since 134/135.
Yes i could but for what I saw on video it feels nothing wrong, anyway ill post it.
for the nightly im not 100% sure i can do that but i will give it a try, also thank you for your time!
For my configuration i got an Yoga 7 ARP8 AMD CPU and GPU with atm fedora 41 GNOME on it but like i said i also saw this issue on other .rpm distro and also other DE like KDE if there is something correlated ( idk ).

Thanks for the video - this got moved to the wrong component as it has nothing to do with the sidebar, its the app menu. But to be honest, I'm not really seeing a lag. I'll move it elsewhere though and those triage owners can assess.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.
Yes, like i said in the video it doesnt seems but for sure if you try this in Fedora or something else in .rpm and later you try it in Debian or Arch (or Windows) the smoothness its unmatchable.
In any case ill update this bug on laters versions of firefox and we will se if will patched.

Hello there, 136 yesterday released, the bug is still here BUT I possibly found a little more detail to share.
So the bug in my fedora Gnome/KDE doesent appear if I put the screen scaling to 100% (now im on 125%) i dont think it a Gnome/kde problem cause on arch i used kde and also firefox with the 125% and it doesn't appear.
Hope you will you find it helpfull and se you on the next release!

Thanks. So please clarify it a bit. So Fedora Gnome/KDE is affected when 125% screen scale is used, with 100% scale works correctly. And Arch works even with 125% scale, right?

Hi, Yes you said it correctly and also i tested a lil bit more and this is what i found:
Debian: the esr package is affected when its wayland session with 125 scale both gnome and kde but in 100% its good... instead the mozilla's package for debian (up to date version) its no affected in 125%.
Fedora and Open suse: affected in 125% no in 100% also in librewolf (flatpak and native) or firefox flatpak it works perfect in 125%
Arch: for what i remember works everything ok out of the box

this instead is 125% scale is more snappy and not fluid... sometimes is also worse than this video with a complete lag of animation. Fedora 42 gnome 48.

Hi there,
updates: firefox 139.0.4 is still affected and on this point i wonder why only with native packages (and from distro itself) are affected and the mozilla ones are not (snap, flatpak, deb, tar.gz) anyway i think it's caused by the fractional scaling state of gtk (since firefox is based on it) but i really wonder why only non-mozilla packages are affeced...

I'm also seeing stutters/low framerate in this animation. I'm testing with widget.wayland.fractional-scale.enabled both true and false and still see it, on KDE git master, Wayland, Tumbleweed. On both current release and Nightly.
