Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:135.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/135.0

Steps to reproduce:

I updated to 135 from 105 as per warning messages regarding disabling of FF in March 2025.. Now I cannot open Google using Google Search button. Have to fiddle around by hitting space bar, then Search. Google opens with message that they could not find by entry.

Actual results:

Nothing happens

Expected results:

Google Search button should open Google as in past. Web searching shows this is widely reported. PLEASE RESTORE GOOGLE SEARCH BUTTON. Thank youi.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Search' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Search

If you mean one of the buttons at the bottom of the separate search bar, then you can use shift-click to open the search engine page. This was an intentional change to align with some address bar changes that are coming soon, that will also allow shift-click.

Alternatives are to enter your search from the search bar directly and then press enter, or to set up a bookmark on the bookmarks toolbar.

I'm therefore marking this as "works for me" since this was an intentional change and there is still an option to do it.

If I have misunderstood your issue (like a different "google search button", please feel free to re-open, but please provide screenshots or a screen cast of the issue so that we can understand it better.

Thank you for reply.
I tried shift-click on Google button and it opened Google as normal. Problem solved.
HOWEVER, I have never seen shift+click on Google button before....nor did I find it in
an exhaustive web search. There have been some warning or explanation somewhere
because it is not intuitive. Again, thank you.
