Running Windows XP Professional with two users.  One uses Microsoft IE and
Outlook and I use Mozilla for Web and Email.
Original profile was copied after upgrade (from Win98) and functioning normally
for  several days.  Sometimes on startup, I receive the setup screen for a new
email account that indicates to me that all my profile settings are lost.  This
is verified by looking at the size of the prefs.js file which is significantly
smaller than it was before.
After restoring backup copies of the profile every 1-2 days for the last month I
purged the Application Data/Mozilla directory and started a new profile.  The
same problem continues to happen.


Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Mozilla from the Windows XP email selector off the start button
2.80% of the time it will start normally.  20% of the time it will ask you to
configure your email accounts since all the preferences have been lost.

Actual Results:  
All email/newsgroup accounts are missing (files are still on the drive) just
Mozilla does not know about them anymore.  All other preferences are lost too.

Expected Results:  
Started normally and not trashed the preferences.
