User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:136.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/136.0

Steps to reproduce:

sidebar.revamp and sidebar.verticalTabs are set in the config,
on my old and slow laptop scrolling tabs in the sidebar

I use hyprland (wayland), arch, and a touch pad to scroll (although it does the same thing with the mouse)

Actual results:

the scrolling is very jittery, and very slow.

In the attached video, I am scrolling the same amount, and with the same speed on the web page and the sidebar.

No such issues with horizontal tabs

Expected results:

Smooth scrolling

This looks like the same issue that was flagged in this bug 1924193 but it sounds like you're still experiencing issues in 136. Are you using dev edition or on Nightly?

I am using firefox developer edition. It got way better on my other PC, but it didn't improve on this older one. Previously, it was way worse, even on my good PC

There's been more fixes in 136 and 137, per the latest comment here. It very well not have been in the dev edition you were using when you lasted responded.

I tried to simulate older hardware by enabling CPU in the Web Developer Tools in an attempt to reproduce the issue under constrained performance conditions. I set the sidebar.revamp and sidebar.verticalTabs prefs to true in about:config, opened multiple tabs and used the mouse wheel to scroll through the vertical tabs.
In my testing on Firefox Developer Edition 139.0b7 using Ubuntu 22.04, I didn't notice any significant lag during scrolling.
@Andrii Dokhniak, are you still experiencing performance issues when scrolling with the Vertical Tabs feature enabled on your older device?

A needinfo is requested from the reporter, however, the reporter is inactive on Bugzilla. Given that the bug is still UNCONFIRMED, closing the bug as incomplete.
