User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 14; Mobile; rv:136.0) Gecko/136.0 Firefox/136.0
Steps to reproduce:
Open video on YouTube, play video, close tab/move to other tab - music continues to play... - It will stop when starting another video.
Firefox

GV: 136.0-20250221091531
AS: 136.0
Running on an S23 Ultra with the January path level for both One Ui 6.1 and Google Play.
Small detail, ublock plus is used as an ad blocker in case this is important.
PS: can confirm no more stutters in audio :)
Actual results:
Music continued to play.
Expected results:
Music should habe stopped once tab was closed.

Thank you for the report!
I am unable to reproduce this issue on the latest Firefox for android Nightly 137.0a1, Beta 136.0b9, nor RC 136.0, using a Samsung Galaxy S24 (Android 14).
The video stops as soon as I leave the page, do not even have to close it.
If you can reproduce this constantly, could you provide us some logs?
If you can use adb and your device's developer settings are enabled, we can gather some logs that may be helpful for us. In case you already have enabled developer settings of your phone and connected to your computer via USB, and your device is listed when you run adb devices, then we can perform the following steps to get the logs to see if there's anything visible:
- Open app, go to Settings - About Firefox - tap 5 times on the logo => this enables Secret Settings.
- Enable Gecko logs from secret settings. This is a toggle named "Enable Gecko logs" on the settings screen once secret settings is enabled.
- This will kill the app to apply the setting, and you'll need to relaunch it.
- Then, from desktop open Command line and run adb logcat => logs.txt on the terminal and leave it running in the background.
- Reproduce the bug.
- In your running terminal (for adb logcat operation) press ctrl+c and close the terminal window.
- Upload the logs.txt to the issue.
Compressed log captured while reproducing the bug - as requested
I was worried that the bug wont reproduce, but it is still present.
It is even weirder... - I had the audio continue to play while all tabs were closed but firefox was open, but then couldn't reproduce that while capturing a log.
However the audio continuing to play persists while multiple tabs are open. I get the impression it matters how the tab is closed and what tab one is in. Some kind of issue where certain sequences don't quite register as requested in the UI.
During the log capture, the bug was reproduced multiple times. Hopefully it contains what you need.
Hopefully this bug report helps.
(I also recently got the Samsung One UI 6.1 February patch - which apparently did not change anything.)

I can reproduce this with the following steps:
- Open this link on Fenix: https://nrodlzdf-a.akamaihd.net/none/phoenix/24/08/240823_phx_amerikagoldengate_logo/1/240823_phx_amerikagoldengate_logo_3328k_p15v15.mp4
- Move to another tab.
- Open the tabs trail and kill the tab playing the video
Expected result:
- The video stops playing
Actual result:
- The video keeps playing and we cannot even stop it as the media notification is not shown

I can reproduce it on Nightly (Fx138) and Beta (Fx137).
I cannot reproduce it on Release Fx135, but I can reproduce it on Release Fx136.

:titouan we have a planned dot release for 136 that builds on Monday 2025-03-10.
If something lands today and gets a beta uplift for tomorrow's 137.0b3 build, we could include it in the dot release if it's not too risky.
Else, we have a second planned dot release that builds on 2025-03-17.

It's not landed yet on mozilla-central but I am taking it for beta 3 so as that we can have a couple of days on beta before uplifting to release.

This issue is verified as fixed on Firefox Nightly 138 (2025-03-10), Firefox 137 Beta 4 and Firefox RC 136.0.1 under Samsung S24 Ultra (Android 14) and Google Pixel 8 (Android 15). The audio successfully stops when following the steps provided in Comment 4. Also tested the Youtube site and no issues were encountered.
