The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Search' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Search

Please can you attach a screenshot of where you are adding/editing the search shortcut?

Flags: needinfo?(orschiro)

Also, it would be worth checking the Browser Console (under 3-bar menu -> More Tools) for any errors appearing when you try to edit the shortcut.

Hi Mark,

Thanks!

I am referring to this screen: https://snipboard.io/4X7pqE.jpg

I wanted to edit the shortcut "scorai" that I had added yesterday but found no way to do so.

Hi, thank you for the additional information. I'm going to start off by noting that this feature is not enabled by default, and generally we do not support use of incomplete features.

This was something we'd started working on a few years back, but for various reasons, we didn't complete it at the time. However, the good news is that we are currently working on shipping it.

A change has just landed in bug 1948326 which fixes how the keyword is set, so that you'll be able to edit it by double clicking on it in preferences - though for any existing engines, you'll probably need to remove and re-add them.

Bug 1949719 is for the wider issue of being able to fully edit search engines that you've added.

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug 1949719, since that's still open and handles the remaining part of your request.
