I can't replicate on Nightly.
Does it work if you start Firefox in Troubleshoot mode?
Apologies; I meant to say "Press Cmd + Return." rather than "Press Cmd + Enter." in step 2 of steps to reproduce as I believe Enter and Return are technically(?) different keys on macOS.
I'd also like to add that it seems that Alt + Return emulates the previous behavior of Cmd + Return. I'm guessing that this has something to do with "Due to recent changes in macOS Sequoia, the shortcut for completing search strings to .com addresses has been changed from Ctrl+Enter to Cmd+Enter." in Firefox 136.0's release notes.

Yes, the issue still occurs. I believe that this may be macOS specific—are you testing on macOS?

Yes, it's on macOS but on a Macbook, so there is only one key. I'm assuming you're using an external keyboard?
Nope, I'm also on a MacBook (M1 Pro), but according to this StackExchange post, Fn + Return seems to trigger Enter, so they are handled separately. Anyway, key peculiarities aside, the issue also occurs on Firefox Nightly for me; are you using the latest macOS (Sequoia 15.3.1)?

As stated in the Release Notes, cmd+Enter on Mac will canonize strings into .com URLs.
The official Open in New Tab shortcut for the urlbar is Alt+Enter (Option+Enter) from quite a few years, we aknowledge users may try cmd+Enter because Cmd is used to open links in new tabs on Web content.
If you don't use canonization, you can disable it by setting browser.urlbar.ctrlCanonizesURLs to false in about:config, as indicated in the Release Notes, that will restore the previous behavior.
Gotcha, thank you! I'd like to add that Cmd+Return makes more sense for that shortcut (to me) because Cmd+Click is used to open a link in a new tab, Cmd+T is used to open a new tab, and Cmd+Shift+T is used to re-open the previously closed tab, but I'm just happy to be able to restore previous behavior. Hopefully Firefox will allow users to easily adjust their keybinds for shortcuts in the future to permanently solve issues/complaints about this sort of stuff.
